We designed these to be both, with Bright White light and a durable Metal frame with glass lens. Traditional solar lights put out 1.25 lumens, but these put out and astounding 15 lumens per fixture! They're our Brightest solar lights listed as 12X brightness! The frame is constructed of metal with a pearl bronze finish. Also the ribbed glass lens construction with ribbed glass lens creates a light beam that puts out 120-degree wide angle to cover more than average. Each purchase gives you 4-light fixtures, perfect for steps and outdoor staircases. This is a 4-pack. For more technical information, each fixture has 1 x .35Watt LED. 15 Lumens per fixture. The unit comes pre-assembled with a pre-charged AA NiMH batteries (includes 2 (1000mAh) AA NiCd Re-chargeable batteries). Runs up to 6 hours on a full charge. 36-inch area of illumination.. These lights are alright. Not as bright as expected. We bought some very cheap solar lights and these are only a bit brighter than those. From far away, they don't look any brighter than the less expensive ones, but from close up, they illuminate more area. These are very lightweight as well. We've had them up for a few weeks and they are all still working.
If you want something that will really light up a path or driveway, I would not recommend these.

I bought these more expensive lights hoping they would work. Three of the four do, but one will not come on unless I go outside and bang on it. The lights are bright, but what good is that if they do not come on.
